The Natural History Museum

Thurs, 19th Feb - The Natural History Museum
Just beside e South Kensington underground station

Yup, just as the sign says, admission is free.
Most of the museums here are FOC, unless you
pay for the guided tours or buy tickets for special
exhibitions...

A shot from the main entrance, its HUGE! Its a few
times the size of the science centre back in singapore...

A brontosaurus greets the visitors at the main hall,
the crowd you see here is queueing up for the dino
exhibits, it'll take 45mins just to get inside. its the
school holiday week so the museum is very packed, will
be going there again next week when guowei and peter arrive.

from left to right:
Mr. Cyclops, Neil Armstrong the Astronaut, some Scientist
and Medusa the gorgon. The escalator in the middle leads to
the volcano & earth exhibit

This room simulates the earthquake that occured in Japan,
you can really feel the ground shake and those bowls/wasabe sauce
tubes/ramen packets/teriyaki bottles shake furiously

Here's the passage in time exhibit where you see lots of
skeletons and slugs(primordial creatures) and stuff like
that...

The bird/avian exhibit was kinda interesting,
heres an owl who looks pissed off cos it was stuffed

Those aren't planets... they're eggs, the first two gigantic
ones are from some extinct species like the elephant bird
and the moa

Chicken's feet anyone? well they have ostrich feet
on the menu... kinda sick, but wait till u see the picture below

Chicken wings?? why not try some alaskan penguin wings?
haha i dunno which poor penguin's missing these

A large variety of stuffed birds, too many photos to upload
so here's just one example of the exhibit

they're so ugly no wonder they died out...
kinda like a cross between a sheep and a duck + parrot
it even has a tail lol

The marine animals exhibit...
If this were a pokemon skeletion it'll be called lapras.
In the real world its called a plesiosaurus

This one's called an Ichthyosaurus and it's fav
food is calamari

Some herbivore that looks like something out of a
Lord of the Rings movie

Now this is cute... erm cant remember the name but
you should have seen it in "A Land Before Time"

Half a turtle - read the description for more info

Frog feet are so wierd, check out the skeleton,
its like the inverse of our hands where the "thumbs"
are pointing outside instead of inside

Creepy Crawlies exhibit, this one didnt really have many
bugs to see so it was kinda boring

leaf-cutter ants hard at work

Robber crab trying to break open a coconut
